Eddie Ashley, academic dean at Boerne-Samuel V. Champion High School since 2012, has been named principal of the school effective immediately. The announcement was made by Boerne ISD superintendent David Stelmazewski.
Ashley succeeds Jodi Spoor, who earlier in June was named assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction for the district.
"Mr. Ashley's talent, experience and understanding of the Champion Way make him the perfect fit for this role," said Stelmazewski, who served as the first principal of the high school when it opened in 2008. "He is a passionate, professional educator and I am excited that he has accepted the opportunity. Champion High School will continue on its exceptionally positive trajectory under Mr. Ashley's leadership."
Ashley's tenure at Champion High School began in 2010 when he served as assistant principal. Responsibilities in that role and in the role of academic dean have provided Ashley with a broad range of experience on the campus. He also has served on various district-level committees in his time with Boerne ISD.
Prior to his arrival in Boerne ISD, Ashley taught and coached at O'Connor and Clark High Schools in San Antonio. He is a graduate of the University of Texas-San Antonio and holds a master's degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
