Boerne ISD educators Chris and Dicy Ormiston were among a group of the "best and brightest teachers from across the state" who attended an April 29 Texas barbecue at the Governor's Mansion at the invitation of Governor Greg Abbott.
"Texas schools are filled with some of the best educators in America who are called to their profession in guiding the future leaders of this great state," Abbott told the assembly of more than 100 guests, including Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath. The event is part of the governor's commitment to engage with classroom teachers and have dialogue about the challenges facing public education today.
Chris Ormiston, a 2005 Milken Educator Award recipient, is the science coordinator for Boerne ISD. Dicy Ormiston teaches second grade at Fabra Elementary School.
